Structures of chain snatching Incidents
I think chain snatching
incidents only happen in urban areas and suburbs. Now such incidents are
starting to happen in rural areas as well.
The rural woman was
getting up early in the morning and cleaning threshold and decorating rangolis.
At that time, two people who were speeding in a two-wheeler snatched the chain
and left. This shows you how chain snatching incidents began to occur in rural
areas. After this incident, the women got up early in the morning almost
changed and the habit of decorating rangoli reduced. Nowadays, after the human
movement on the street, they start decorating rangoli at seven or eight in the
morning. The chain snatching incident has made such a difference in the rural side.
Women are more likely
to be victims of chain snatching. This may be due to the fact that women have
more gold chains around their necks than men. I don't think this is anti-women
concept.
Those who snatch chains
from women and cause harm are often men. For this they use two wheelers as the
most innovative. If two men from the same bike join together they can make a
structure for the chain snatching. I do not think it is against men to say so.
There may some
possibilities for life-threatening accidents in chain snatching incidents.
There are also risks of cutting the neck of the wearer if the chain worn around
the neck during chain snatching becomes too tight.
There are social
psychological reasons behind why these chain snatching incidents occur. Drug
addicts unconsciously choose to snatch the chain when they have no money to buy
drugs. From the high-spending accustomed upper class to the unemployed middle
and lower class choose this chain snatching is a fluke for money. There are
also those who do chain snatching as a professional method.
Hijackers can be found
in the ‘Sangam’ literature of tamil. These chain snatchers are thieves who come
looking for a way and snatch.
I think it is important
to acknowledge at this point a text quoted by Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji's quote
marks the day when the woman who wore the jewels at midnight returned home
safely. The phrase refers to the protection of society had for the woman who
wore jewels during the day. Seventy years after independence, the only
protection left for women during the day is no longer available.
