Temples for human deities
'Don't live in a town
without a temple' is a proverb of the Tamil people.
In Tamil Nadu, you can
see towns or villages with temples on every corner and street.
Even if it is not that
much, you cannot see a town or village in Tamil Nadu that does not have at
least one temple.
There are temples for
all the deities in Tamil Nadu.
Even the Brahma, who
was cursed by Shiva to not build a temple, has a temple in Tirupattur, Trichy
district.
Saraswati, who is said
to be the consort of Brahman, has a temple at Kuthanur in Tiruvarur district.
Temples were even built
for actresses in Tamil Nadu.
Even for Corona, a
Corona Devi temple was built in Coimbatore.
It is a characteristic
of Tamils that they enjoy building a temple for everything they worship.
Can such a Tamil Nadu
not have temples for the human deity Gandhi?
In Tamil Nadu there are
two temples dedicated to the human deity Gandhi. Those two places are,
1. |
