Why neglect the security of ATMs?
People who go with
money usually have no security. They have to go with the money and the security
they deserve when they go with the money. They say this safety thing by saying in
the tamil culture that if there is no weight in the lap there will be no fear
along the way.
The above concept also
applies to machines with cash. ATMs that have money are just as vulnerable as
people who have money in recent times. Machines are also vulnerable to robbery.
The situation is such
that the bank management is telling people to avoid withdrawing money at ATMs
where there is not much traffic. That's right, why do banks set up ATMs in less
crowded places? Why are they reluctant to put a guard there for security even
though they know it is a place where there is not much movement of people?
The condition of ATM is
such that robbers come with oxygen Cylinder, Cutting Machine and crowbar. There
has been an incident where a person was killed near Thiruvarur in an attempt to
prevent such a robbery. Should the bank management have appointed a security
guard for the ATM after that? That's not it. Seven months after the incident, a
guard not been appointed.
Several person get the
job when a guard is assigned to each ATM. Security is also available at ATMs.
There is a sense of security not only for the ATM but also for the people who
come to the ATM to withdraw money.
The Reserve Bank, which
lays down the rules of banking, must also consider and enforce that ATMs should
not be set up without guards. This is because not only money but also human
lives are being snatched from ATMs. Not only that, but such drawbacks in the
security of ATMs do not create robbers.
